Half Marathon and 5 Mile Fun Run Events

  1. The 13.1 mile HALF MARATHON will be held in accordance with the UK Athletics Associations Rules for Competition. The            event will be run through town streets and undulating roads in attractive Chiltern countryside with markers at each mile.         No under 17's are allowed to run in the Half Marathon (UKA rule).

  2. The 5 mile Fun Run follows the first part of the Half Marathon route. Two thirds of the course will be on country roads, with one uphill section. There will be a drinks station at about the half way point.

  3. START for both events will be from the Cricket Club, Castle Hill, Berkhamsted at 10.00am for the Half Marathon and10.30am for the 5 mile Fun Run .

  4. ENTRIES will open for both events on 1st October 2019. Online entries for the Half Marathon and 5 mile Run must be received by Sunday 16th February 2020. You MUST be able to run the Half Marathon in under 3 hours to enter the event.

  5. LOCAL ENTRANTS for all races can register at Victoria School, Prince Edward Street, Berkhamsted on Saturday 29th February 2020 between 9:00am and 1:00pm. Competitors can also register on the day of the race at Berkhamsted School Pavilion (near the finish) between 8:00am and 9:30am. NOTE:  REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE PROMPTLY AT  9.30 am.

  6. OFFICIAL NUMBERS must be worn on the chest of each competitor for the duration of the event. Any Competitor not wearing an official number at the finish will be disqualified, as will any competitor swapping numbers. Competitors will be required to wear an electronic chip for official race timing purposes. 

  7. CHANGING ROOMS: There will be limited changing facilities at the Cricket Club, in the marquee with designated ladies changing room. Local competitors are requested to arrive prepared for running to allow those who have travelled a distance to have priority over changing rooms. Sorry no showers available! Secure storage will be available during the race and toilet facilities will be provided.

  8. PARKING: There is pay & display parking in the town within 500 metres of the start. Car parking is available at the Railway Station and at Ashlyns School. PLEASE USE THE CAR PARKS. The Police will be very strict with people parking on the route or in NO PARKING areas. Remember that it is for your own safety that we keep the roads clear.

  9. PRIZES: Half Marathon:  Men 1st, 2nd & 3rd, Ladies 1st,, 2nd & 3rd,  5 Mile Fun Run:   Men 1st, 2nd & 3rd, Ladies 1st, 2nd& 3rd.  There will also be Team prizes for men's, ladies' and for both Junior and Senior schools.

  10. SWEEP VEHICLES: Will be provided for runners in distress around the course, who are recommended to drop out to the nearest marshal.

  11. KEEP LEFT: Runners must keep to the left of the road or as directed by the lead car, signs, marshals and/or the police. Other people will be using the roads so be safe and obey instructions. Keep left and do not cut corners. Runners ignoring directions will be disqualified.

  12. FINISH: After crossing the line competitors must continue to the roped funnels. Do not stop or return over the finish area.

  13. RESULTS: Full details will be available on the website the following week.

  14. THE WINNING TEAM: For Half Marathon and 5 Mile Fun Run is a team home first with all runners across the finish line. A team comprises not less than four runners. 

  15. NO REFUNDS given even in the event of race cancellation.

  16. NO DOGS or BICYCLES allowed. Anyone accompanied by either or associated with, WILL be disqualified.

  17. For runner safety earphone or headphones are not allowed unless approved by England Athletics
